Sweet Irish Soda Bread - cooking recipe

2 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
3 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. caraway seed (optional)
1/2 c. raisins
1 c. buttermilk
Preparation

Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and sugar together.
Add caraway seed and raisins.
Stir in buttermilk to make a soft dough.
Knead dough on a lightly floured board for about 1 minute, then shape it into a round loaf and put it into an 8-inch greased round pan.
Pat flour lightly over the top surface, then cut crosswise into the top.
Bake in preheated 350\u00b0 oven for 40 minutes or until done.
Bread should have a hollow sound when tapped.
Makes 8 servings.
