Rolled Sugar Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. baking soda
    6 c. flour, sifted
    1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
    1/2 tsp. almond or orange extract or 1 tsp. nutmeg (optional)
Preparation
    Stir together first 6 ingredients until creamy.
    Alternate flour and milk, starting with flour.
    Roll to 1/4-inch to 1/3-inch and cut into desired shapes.
    Cookies can be frosted, if desired.
