Succotash - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. dried lima beans, soaked overnight in fridge
    3 c. water
    1 tsp. salt
    1 small can tomatoes
    1/4 tsp. thyme
    2 small bay leaves
    1 Tbsp. chopped green pepper
    1 Tbsp. bacon fat
    1 c. whole kernel corn
    1 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation
    Place in a large pot all ingredients, except corn.
    Bring to boil; cover pot.
    Lower heat and simmer 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
    Add more water, if needed.
    Water should cover beans throughout cooking time.
    Serve with hot corn bread and fried chicken.
