1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2/3 c. shortening
1/2 c. creamy peanut butter
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
Preparation

Sift flour, baking powder and salt.
Blend shortening with peanut butter (to make a softer cookie, add extra peanut butter) in mixing bowl.
Add brown sugar, creaming until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; beat well.
Blend dry ingredients; mix.
Shape into balls.
Use 1 teaspoon for each.
Use ungreased pan.
Flatten with fork crisscross fashion.
Bake at 375\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes until gold.
