Chickpea Bread Spread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 loaf Italian bread
    1/2 c. olive oil, plus extra
    1 (15 to 16 oz.) can chickpeas or garbanzo beans, drained
    3 cloves minced garlic
    1 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. black pepper
    1/2 tsp. chili powder
    1/4 c. coarsely chopped parsley
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 375\u00b0. Slice the bread in half lengthwise. Brush the cut side with olive oil and bake 15 to 20 minutes until toasted. Combine in a blender jar or food processor the remaining ingredients; puree to a paste. Spread on the bread; garnish with the parsley and slice into serving size pieces. Serves 8 to 10.
