Date Loaf Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sugar
    1 c. milk
    1 (8 oz.) pkg. dates, chopped
    1 Tbsp. butter
    4 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
    Combine sugar, milk and dates in a large bowl or pan.
    Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture reaches soft ball stage.
    Remove from heat.
    Stir in butter and nuts.
    Divide mixture in 1/2.
    Place each half on a damp towel.
    Shape into a 10 x 2-inch log.
    Roll logs up in towel and let cool at least 30 minutes.
    Unwrap and cut into slices.
