Sweet Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 gal. sliced cucumbers
    3 to 4 c. house lime
    5 lb. sugar
    3 qt. vinegar (red)
    2 Tbsp. pickling spice
Preparation
    Make paste of lime and water.
    Mix well.
    Add water (enough to cover cucumbers).
    Let soak overnight.
    Drain and wash thoroughly in clear water (will take about 4 washings).
    After 5th washing, soak 4 hours and wash well.
    Dissolve sugar in red vinegar.
    Add cucumbers and let soak 3 to 4 hours.
    Add pickling spice and boil for 1 hour.
    Pack in jars and seal.
