Loaf Pot Roast A La Ina - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. ground chuck
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    1/4 tsp. garlic powder
    1/4 c. onion, chopped fine
    1/4 c. milk
    1 egg
    3 carrots, cut into 1-inch pieces
    1/2 green pepper, sliced
    8 oz. catsup
    1 c. water
    1 Tbsp. shortening
Preparation
    Mix together well the first 7 ingredients. Shape into a loaf. Brown on all sides in melted shortening in a frying pan.
    Place in a Dutch oven or large pot.
    Mix liquids and pour over meat. Cook over moderate heat for 1/2 hour. Add carrots and green pepper. Cook another 1/2 hour. Serve hot with rice or mashed potatoes.
    Yields 6 servings.
