Banana-Nut Bread - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1 c. mashed bananas
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Mix the shortening and sugar, creaming well.
    (I use mixer.) Blend in eggs, one at a time, beating well.
    Add the banana, mixing well.
    Blend in the sifted dry ingredients.
    Fold in chopped nuts.
    Pour into greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch bread pan.
    Push batter up into corners of pan, leaving center slightly hollowed. For a well rounded loaf, allow to stand for 20 minutes before baking.
    Bake in a moderate 350\u00b0 oven for 60 to 70 minutes.
    Cool thoroughly on rack before slicing.
    Serve plain or with butter or cream cheese.
