California Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    4 c. cooked rice (freshly cooked)
    1 c. cream-style cottage cheese
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    2 c. grated sharp Cheddar cheese
    1 c. chopped onion
    2 c. sour cream
    2 (4 oz.) cans green chiles, drained and chopped
    1/2 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Lightly grease a 2-quart baking dish. In a large skillet, in hot butter, saute onions about 5 minutes. Remove from heat; stir in hot rice, sour cream, cottage cheese, salt and pepper.
    Toss lightly to mix well.
    Layer the rice mixture in bottom of baking dish, then half the chilies.
    Sprinkle with half the cheese; repeat.
    Bake, uncovered, for 25 minutes, or until bubbly and hot.
