Buttermilk-Toasted Oat Scones - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. quick or regular oats
    1/2 c. oat bran
    3 Tbsp. firm margarine
    1 c. all-purpose flour
    1/4 c. packed brown sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. chopped figs or prunes
    2 egg whites
    about 1/2 c. low-fat buttermilk
Preparation
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Spread oats and oat bran in ungreased rectangular pan, 13 x 9 x 2-inch.
    Bake 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until light brown.
    Cool.
    Increase oven to 400\u00b0.
