Pickled Beets - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 (16 oz.) cans sliced beets, drained (reserving liquid)
    1 c. sliced onions
    2/3 c. vinegar
    5 whole cloves
    2/3 c. sugar
    1 cinnamon stick
Preparation
    If necessary, add water to reserved beet juice to equal 2/3 cup.
    In large saucepan, combine all ingredients.
    Bring to a boil.
    Reduce heat; simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Refrigerate.
    Before serving, drain; remove cinnamon sticks and cloves.
    Makes 8 servings.
