Bran Muffins - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5/8 c. regular all-purpose flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 1/4 c. 40% bran flakes
    5/8 c. milk
    1/2 egg
    1/6 c. soft shortening or vegetable oil
Preparation
    Sift first 4 ingredients.
    Set aside.
    Mix bran flakes and milk into mixing bowl.
    Let stand for 2 minutes or until soft. Add egg and shortening.
    Beat well.
    Add dry ingredients to cereal mixture.
    Portion batter evenly into 6 greased 2 1/2-inch muffin pan cups.
    Bake in oven at 400\u00b0 for about 25 minutes or until muffins are golden brown.
    Serve warm.
