Rice Pudding 1 - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. rice (Carolina)
    1/2 gal. milk
    1/2 c. sugar
    5 eggs, separated
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    raisins (optional), soften in warm water
    1/2 c. sugar
Preparation
    Cook first 5 ingredients on stove over a low flame about 1 hour.
    Stir once in awhile.
    Remove from burner. Beat together egg yolks, 1/4 cup sugar, vanilla and raisins.
    Add this to stove mixture.
    Pour into 13 x 9-inch pan.
