Ingredients

4 qr. ripe figs
4 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. sliced orange rind
Preparation

Wash figs and cut off stems.
Place in a 4 qt. pan.
Do NOT add water.
Pour sugar over figs.
Add orange rind.
Cook one hour very slowly with lid on.
Stir occasionally.
Cook two more hours or until juice is dark and thick.
Spoon figs and juice into jars that have been sterilized in boiling water.
Place lid and band on jar and screw tight.
