Shrimp Toasts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large onion, quartered
    1 (12 to 16 oz.) pkg. frozen, cooked shrimp
    1 can water chestnuts, cut in half
    1 egg
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. sugar
    1 large loaf sliced white bread
    flavored bread crumbs
Preparation
    Grind together the first 3 ingredients or grate in blender. Press down lightly with rubber spatula until grated, then turn onto blend and add next 4 ingredients.
    Remove crusts from white bread and spread mixture on one side of bread.
    Sprinkle flavored bread crumbs on top.
    Fry on both sides until brown with a little oil.
    Drain on toweling.
    Cut in fourths on the diagonal and serve or freeze.
    If frozen, put in oven at 350\u00b0 for 20 minutes before serving.
    Makes a bunch!
