Best Cream Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    8 Tbsp. flour
    2/3 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    2 egg yolks, beaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. milk
    baked pie shell
    2 Tbsp. confectioners sugar
    2 egg whites
Preparation
    Melt shortening.
    Add flour, sugar, salt, milk and egg yolks. Cook over hot water until thick, stirring constantly.
    Add vanilla.
    Pour into pie shell.
    Cover with meringue made by beating the sugar into the stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Bake in a moderate oven at 375\u00b0 for 15 minutes or until a delicate brown.
