Michigan Chili - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. bacon
    4 medium onions
    2 lb. ground beef
    2 (20 oz.) cans kidney beans
    4 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    2 to 3 Tbsp. chili powder
    1/2 tsp. cayenne
    pepper (optional)
Preparation
    Cut bacon in small pieces and place in a large heavy pot. Chop onions and add to bacon.
    Cook together until onions are soft, but not brown.
    Add beef and brown meat.
    Drain off fat and return meat to pot.
    Add remaining ingredients and cook slowly for 2 hours or more, adding water when needed and stirring occasionally.
    Serves 8.
