Company Chili - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 lb. hot or mild smoked sausage, sliced
    1 c. chopped onion
    1 (28 oz.) can pinto beans
    2 tsp. brown sugar
    1/2 c. catsup
    1 Tbsp. chili powder
    2 tsp. spicy brown mustard
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 (28 oz.) can whole tomatoes
Preparation
    Combine
    ground beef, sausage and onion in a heavy pan. Cook until
    beef
    is browned, stirring to crumble meat. Drain off
    fat. Drain pinto beans, reserving liquid.
    Add liquid to meat mixture, stir in remaining ingredients except beans.
    Add about 1/2 water if needed.
    Cover and simmer 35 to 40 minutes. Add beans and cook additional 15 minutes.
