Pita Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 1/4 to 3 3/4 c. all purpose flour
1 pkg. dry yeast
1 1/4 c. warm water
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. shortening
Preparation

In a large mixing bowl dissolve the sugar in the warm water and sprinkle in the dried yeast.
Leave to stand in warm place for about 10 minutes until frothy; add two cups of flour, shortening and salt.
Beat at low speed of electric mixer for 1/2 a minute, scraping sides of bowl constantly.
Beat 3 minutes at high speed. Stir in as much of the remaining flour as you can mix with a spoon.
