Old-Fashioned Vanilla Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sifted flour
    3/4 tsp. salt
    3 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 c. shortening
    1 3/4 c. sugar
    2 tsp. vanilla
    3 eggs (unbeaten)
    1 1/4 c. milk
Preparation
    Sift together the first 3 ingredients.
    Cream the shortening, sugar and vanilla together until fluffy.
    Beat in eggs one at a time.
    Add flour mixture alternately with milk.
    Beat 1/2 minute. Turn into 3 well-greased, lightly floured 9-inch round pans.
    Bake in preheated moderate oven (375\u00b0) for 25 minutes or until done. Cool on rack.
    Spread with frosting when cold.
    Yields 12 servings.
