Ingredients

1 c. whole wheat flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. packed light brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 c. water
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 c. quick cooking oats
1 c. raisins or chopped dried apricots
1 c. Hershey's mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preparation

Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
Lightly grease cookie sheet.
Stir together flour, baking soda and salt.
In large mixer bowl, beat shortening mixture.
Stir in remaining ingredients.
Drop dough by teaspoonfuls onto prepared cookie sheet, flatten slightly.
Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.
Cool completely.
Makes 5 dozen cookies.
