1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. ground ginger
1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
1/4 c. milk
1 c. candied cherries, halved
1/4 tsp. soda
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. honey
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
8 oz. pitted dates
1 c. nuts
Preparation

Combine the flours, cinnamon, baking powder, ginger, nutmeg, soda and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
In mixer bowl beat butter or margarine 30 seconds.
Add sugar and honey; beat until well blended.
Add eggs and vanilla; beat well.
Stir in milk.
Add dry ingredients to beaten mixture.
Beat well.
Fold in dates, cherries and nuts.
Drop dough from a teaspoon 2 inches apart onto greased cookie sheet.
Top each with a pecan half or candied cherry, if desired.
Bake in a 375\u00b0 oven for 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from pan.
Cool on rack.
Makes 48.
