Northern-Style Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    1/2 c. milk
    1 egg beaten
Preparation
    Combine flour, salt and baking powder.
    Cut in shortening until mixture is crumbly.
    Pour in milk and add egg.
    Mix only until flour is dampened.
    Don't worry about lumps.
    Drop by spoonfuls on top of boiling meat or fruit.
    Cover tightly and steam for 12 minutes without raising cover.
