Ingredients

1 c. flour, unsifted
3/4 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. cocoa
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. milk
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. nuts (optional)
1 c. brown sugar, packed
1/4 c. cocoa
1 3/4 c. hot water
Preparation

Stir together the first 5 ingredients. Add the milk, 2 tablespoons cocoa and vanilla.
Mix all together with dry stuff. Add the nuts (optional).
Pour in an 8 x 8-inch ungreased pan. Spread.
Sprinkle the brown sugar and 1/4 cup cocoa.
Pour the hot water over the batter.
Bake 40 minutes at 350\u00b0.
For a 9 x 13-inch pan, take all times 2.
Put Cool Whip on top.
