Chicken Gumbo Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (2 1/2 to 3 lb.) chicken, cut up
    8 c. water
    2 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    celery tops
    1/2 c. regular barley
    3/4 c. chopped onion
    1 lb. okra, cut into pieces
    1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes
    1/4 c. chopped celery
Preparation
    Place chicken, water, salt, pepper and celery tops in large kettle.
    Cover and cook until chicken is tender, about 45 minutes. Remove chicken.
    Add barley and cook 1 hour longer.
    Remove chicken meat from bones and add with vegetables to broth;
    cook an additional 30 minutes.
