Cucumber Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

7 lb. cucumbers, washed and cut
2 gal. water
2 c. pickling lime
6 lb. sugar
3 qt. vinegar
4 Tbsp. pickling spice
3 sticks cinnamon
3 tsp. turmeric
Preparation

Dissolve lime in water. Soak cucumbers for 24 hours. Rinse and soak in cold water 4 more hours, changing water every hour. Drain well. Heat sugar, vinegar, pickling spice and cinnamon just until sugar is melted. Cool and soak cucumbers overnight in mixture. Simmer gently for 30 minutes. Remove spices and add turmeric just before packing into jars.
