Pineapple Upside-Down Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 stick (1/2 c.) margarine
    1/2 c. firm-packed brown sugar
    1 (8 oz.) can sliced pineapple
    2 maraschino cherries, halved
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Melt 1/4 cup of margarine (half the stick) in an 8-inch square pan.
    Drain pineapple; reserve syrup.
    Arrange pineapple slices in pan.
    Place cherries in center of pineapple rings.
    Cream together remaining 1/4 cup margarine and sugar.
    Add egg and vanilla.
    Mix together flour, baking powder and salt; add alternately flour mixture and reserved syrup to bowl, beating just until smooth. Pour evenly over fruit in pan.
    Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven about 40 minutes or until done.
    Cool in pan 5 minutes; invert onto serving plate.
    Serve warm.
