Ingredients

2 1/2 c. flour (all-purpose)
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. ginger
1/8 tsp. cloves
1/8 tsp. allspice
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. molasses
1 Tbsp. vinegar and milk to make 1 c.
Preparation

Sift dry ingredients together.
Cream shortening.
Add sugar gradually and cream until fluffy.
Add egg and beat well.
Beat in molasses.
Combine vinegar and milk.
Add alternately with dry ingredients.
Stir until well blended.
Chill.
