Apple Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 c. milk
    1 egg
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. water
    2 Tbsp. butter
    apples
Preparation
    Make pastry combining flour, baking powder, salt and shortening.
    Add milk and egg.
    Roll out as pie crust.
    Prepare apples by peeling and coring them.
    Wrap pastry around each apple, pinching edges together.
    Combine water, sugar and butter and bring to a boil.
    Pour syrup into baking dish and place dumplings in hot syrup.
    Bake 15 minutes at 350\u00b0, then 45 minutes at 275\u00b0.
