Irish Soda Bread - cooking recipe

4 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. caraway
3/4 c. soft butter or margarine
1 3/4 c. buttermilk (fresh, dry or sour, 1/4 c. milk in 1/2 c. vinegar)
1 c. raisins
Preparation

Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt and sugar. Add the caraway. Add in the butter or margarine, buttermilk and raisins. Mix.
turn onto floured board.
Knead 1 minute.
Lightly butter a 10-inch skillet with flour or sugar (prevents sticking).
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour.
You may top with milk, butter or egg white while baking.
