Eggnog - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 eggs
    1/4 c. sugar
    1 qt. milk, divided
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    In large saucepan, beat together eggs and sugar.
    Stir in 2 cups milk.
    Cook over low heat, stirring constantly until mixture thickens and coats a metal spoon.
    Remove from heat and stir in remaining 2 cup milk and vanilla.
    Cover and refrigerate until thoroughly chilled, several hours.
    Just before serving, stir in cinnamon stick and ground nutmeg.
