Apple Dumplings(Mary Sangster Trail'S Recipe) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    4 tsp. baking powder
    2 tsp. sugar
    1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. shortening
    2/3 c. milk
    7 apples
    2 c. sugar
    2 c. brown sugar
Preparation
    Stir together the flour, baking powder, 2 teaspoons of sugar, cream of tartar and salt.
    Cut in the shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
    Make a well in the center.
    Add milk all at once.
    Stir just until dough clings together.
    Knead gently on a lightly floured surface for 10 to 12 strokes.
    Roll out to about 12 x 14 inches and 1/2 inch thick.
