Brown Bread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/4 c. molasses or sugar
2 tsp. salt
1 c. cold water
3 c. whole wheat flour
3 c. white flour (about)
1/4 c. shortening
1 c. hot water
1 pkg. yeast, softened in 1/4 c. warm water
Preparation

Put shortening, molasses and salt in a bowl; pour hot water over it.
Add cold water (if lukewarm).
Add whole wheat flour. Mix.
Add yeast and let dough rest 10 minutes.
Add enough white flour to knead easily.
Knead until elastic.
