Sweet Cucumber Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    14 lb. cucumbers
    7 lb. sugar
    1 pkg. Wiley's lime
    1 oz. powdered alum
    6 Tbsp. pickling spices
    3 qt. vinegar
    3 c. salt
Preparation
    Slice cucumbers.
    Soak in lime water to cover for 12 hours, then wash in tap water.
    Soak cucumbers for 4 hours in salt water, then wash in tap water.
    Soak for 2 hours in tap water.
    Mix alum in water and bring cucumbers to a boil, then wash well.
    Put cucumbers in pot with vinegar, sugar and spices.
    Put spices in a bag.
    Heat until hot.
    Put in hot sterile jars and seal.
