Quick Fruit Cobbler - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 rounded Tbsp. soft margarine
    1/2 c. milk
    1/4 c. margarine
    1 c. flour
    1 rounded tsp. baking powder
    1 c. warm water
    canned fruit pie filling or fresh fruit
    dash of salt
Preparation
    Cream together the sugar and soft margarine.
    Add milk, flour, baking powder and salt.
    Mix until smooth.
    Put 1/4 cup margarine in a 9 x 13-inch casserole dish and melt in oven.
    Spread batter mixture over the melted margarine.
    Put fruit on top.
    If using fresh fruit, sprinkle with 3/4 cup of sugar (for fresh cherries, add slightly more sugar).
