Syrup Tea Cakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. syrup
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. ginger or vanilla
    1 egg
    1/3 c. hot water
    4 1/2 c. flour
Preparation
    Mix all ingredients together; dissolve soda in hot water. Add flour.
    Mix well.
    Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.
