Manhattan Clam Chowder - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 Tbsp. margarine
    1 onion, chopped
    1 green pepper, diced
    2 stalks celery, diced
    2 to 3 potatoes, diced
    1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes
    1 (8 oz.) can minced clams
    thyme
    salt
    pepper
Preparation
    Melt margarine in saucepan; add onion, green pepper and celery; cook until onion is transparent.
    Meanwhile, cook potatoes in water to cover for 5 minutes.
    Measure potato water; add boiling water to make 2 cups.
    Add potatoes and water to saucepan.
    Add tomatoes and liquid from clams; bring to a boil and simmer 5 minutes.
    Season to taste with thyme, salt and pepper.
    Add clams and heat.
