Ingredients

3 pt. white sugar
1 pt. cream
1/4 lb. butter
1/4 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla

Preparation

Pour 1 pint sugar in skillet.
Place over low heat; brown and stir in so won't scour (takes from 20 to 30 minutes).
Put 2 pints of sugar with cream in a deep pan.
Cook until all sugar is dissolved, not stirring.
Pour burnt sugar slowly into sugar and cream until forms firm ball in cold water.
Remove from fire.
Add soda, vanilla and butter.
Set aside and let cool until lukewarm, then beat well.
Add nuts.
Pour into a buttered pan.
Slice into squares when cool.
