Ham Steaks In Port Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 lb. center cut ham steak
    1 c. unsalted chicken stock
    3 green onions (tops only), chopped
    1/4 c. Port
    1 can sliced mushrooms or 1/4 lb. fresh mushrooms
    1 1/2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
Preparation
    In a 12-inch skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat. Slice extra fat off ham.
    Add ham steak and quickly brown on both sides.
    Add Port and let bubble for a moment.
    Add stock, mushrooms and green onions.
    Simmer gently, basting ham with sauce until mushrooms are tender (about 5 minutes).
    Remove ham and reduce sauce by half.
    Add ham; heat 1 minute and serve.
    Great with poached or scrambled eggs!
    Serves 2 to 4.
