Crisp Molasses Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. melted shortening
    1 c. brown sugar
    6 c. flour
    4 tsp. soda
    1 Tbsp. lemon extract
    1 c. molasses
    1 c. thick sour milk or buttermilk
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. apple pie spice
Preparation
    Mix shortening, molasses and sugar until smooth.
    Stir in sour milk, then sifted dry ingredients; add lemon extract.
    Mix to a smooth, stiff dough and chill until firm.
    Roll out a portion of dough on floured surface to a thickness of 1/8-inch.
    Cut with floured cutter; place on greased baking sheet and bake at 375\u00b0 for 8 to 10 minutes or shape into 9-inch rolls.
    Wrap in waxed paper or clear plastic wrap.
    Chill well.
    Cut into 1/4-inch slices and bake at 350\u00b0 until brown.
