Ingredients

2 1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. Crisco or other white shortening
5 eggs
3 c. plain flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 tsp. almond extract
1 (7 oz.) can flaked coconut
Preparation

Preheat oven to 300\u00b0.
Cream sugar and Crisco.
Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition.
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
Add alternately milk and the flour mixture to creamed mixture.
Lastly, add vanilla extract and almond extract and fold in contents of coconut.
Bake in greased and floured large tube pan for 1 1/2 hours at 300\u00b0 or until cake tests done.
Cake makes its own topping.
