Virginia Applesauce Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. applesauce
    1/2 c. butter or margarine
    2 c. sugar
    1 egg
    2 1/2 c. flour, sifted before measured
    1/2 c. boiling water
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1/2 tsp. allspice
    2 tsp. baking soda
    1 c. chopped raisins
Preparation
    Cream shortening; add egg and sauce.
    Sift flour before measuring.
    (Sift some over nuts.)
    Dissolve soda in hot water. Add alternately with flour to mixture.
    Add raisins and nuts. Bake in a tube pan for 1 hour at 350\u00b0, or until toothpick comes out clean.
