Dark Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. raisins
    2 c. water
    1 c. cold water
    2/3 c. shortening
    2 c. sugar
    1 egg
    5 c. flour
    3 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. cloves
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Boil raisins in 2 cups\twater for 15 minutes.
    Let cool a little. Cream shortening,
    sugar and egg together.\tSift dry ingredients together and add
    to
    raisins.\tBake in a moderate oven at 350\u00b0 for 35 to 40
    minutes\tin 2 loaf pans, 9 x 5-inch (greased and floured).
