Peanut Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. granulated sugar
    1 c. hot water
    1 scant c. light Karo
    1 1/2 Tbsp. butter
    2 c. raw peanuts (not salted)
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Boil the first 3 ingredients to soft ball stage (230\u00b0), then add butter and peanuts.
    Cook to hard crack stage, stirring constantly.
    Remove from heat; add vanilla and soda.
    Pour on greased surface.
    As it cools, pull from edges to desired thickness and cut off.
