Bread Custard Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. crumbled bread
    1 Tbsp. butter
    2/3 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 egg
    3 c. scalded milk
Preparation
    Combine the crumbs and milk; bring to boiling point.
    Add the butter and stir into the egg and sugar, beaten until light in the baking dish.
    Add vanilla.
    Place baking dish in a pan of hot water and bake at 350\u00b0 until a knife inserted in center comes out clean, about 45 minutes (raisins can be added 1 cup).
