Baking Powder Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. flour
    2 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
    4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 tsp. each: cream of tartar and salt
    1 1/2 sticks (3/4 c.) cold butter
    1/2 c. milk
    1 egg, lightly beaten
Preparation
    Into a bowl, sift together the first 4 dry ingredients. Blend in the cold
    butter until mixture resembles coarse meal. With a fork, stir in
    1/2 cup milk and egg.
    Add gradually 1/4 to 1/3 cup additional
    milk if needed to bind the dough.
    Turn onto lightly floured surface
    and knead once or twice, patting dough into 3/4-inch thick
    round.
    With 2-inch cutter or glass bottom, cut out rounds
    and
    transfer
    to
    a
    buttered
    baking sheet.
    Bake in 400\u00b0 oven
    for
    15
    minutes
    or
    until golden. Makes about 16 biscuits.
