Caramel Oatmeal Chewies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 c. oatmeal (uncooked)
    1 1/2 c. flour
    3/4 c. packed brown sugar
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    3/4 c. (1 1/2 sticks) margarine, melted
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 c. or 6 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
    1 (14 oz.) bag vanilla caramels
    1/4 c. water
Preparation
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Grease a 13 x 9-inch pan.
    Combine the first 5 ingredients.
    Add margarine; mix until crumbly.
    Reserve 1 cup for topping.
    Press remaining mixture in pan.
    Bake for 10 minutes; cool.
    Top with nuts and whole chocolate pieces.
