Rhine Burgers - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. caraway seed
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    1/2 c. drained sauerkraut
    8 slices bacon
    butter
    8 slices square pumpernickel bread
Preparation
    Mix ground beef lightly with salt, caraway seed and pepper; shape into 8 patties, about 1/2-inch thick.
    Place 2 tablespoonfuls sauerkraut on each of 4 patties; top with remaining patties.
    Wrap 2 slices bacon around each; fasten with moistened wooden picks.
    Broil 4 inches from heat for 6 minutes on each side or until bacon is crisp.
    Serve each between 2 slices buttered pumpernickel.
