Ingredients

1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
Preparation

Cream butter and sugar.
Add egg, baking powder, salt and vanilla; mix well.
Gradually stir in flour.
Form balls with dough and chill 1 hour.
Roll out on floured dough board.
Use cookie cutters to form desired shapes.
Place on cookie sheet. Bake at 425\u00b0 for 6 to 8 minutes.
Cookies are best if removed from oven just before they begin to brown.
Decorate when cool with frosting as desired.
